Orléans, the capital of the Loire Valley, is famous for two reasons: Joan of Arc and the 'Châteaux‘ (castles) in the area. Discover many other reasons to visit this rather small city -113,000 inhabitants- located in the heart of France, just an hour from Paris. The Loire Valley is an outstanding cultural landscape of great beauty, containing historic towns and villages, great architectural monuments and cultivated lands formed by many centuries of interaction between their population and the physical environment, primarily the river Loire itself.
